Johan Bergstrand; John, is, as of now a 42 year old male that grew up in one of the three most major cities within Sweden. Without going into details, he had what most would've called a "normal" childhood, friends, videogames, normal grades and what not. What differs is what happen in his late teens, alcohol abuse, drugs and what not; to make the days go by struggling with some major mental issues which unfortunately led up to a huge debt, which didn't help and only escalated things.
He quickly found a liking with computers and the like due to his fathers occupation. And his interest within the IT sector grew stronger. However shortly after turning 18, he was, due to for the then mandatory military service draft. Nothing but chaos came after that. Sure, he enjoyed the comradeship that followed with the mandatory service, loved the outdoor activities and everything that came along together with it. But at the end of his term, he felt lost.
Conflicted on what to do now after the few months he have had together with his then newly found friends during the draft, he applied for numerous jobs matching his then passion, IT. He managed to keep his nine to five even though the bottle were there even during work hours. Shit turned to worse and he simply lost touch and eventually was fired since he couldn't keep up with the required sessions to go back to a sober living. All during this time his family were nothing but supportive. But as time went by, he grew more and more distant from his family. And at the later stages he had little to no contact, if it wasn't for asking for money to pay his bill when he overspent on the liquid courage.
Years went by, and he pushed well beyond his thirties, moving closer to his forties. Eventually he got rid of his apartment and travelled the world, however never staying longer than a few weeks at the same place. He then ended up back in Sweden after a few years, and later on moved towards Finland where he worked at a local butcher & fishing family ran company. It worked well since the overwhelming reality of the world, for him seemed to be gone, but his passion for booze sooner rather than later got him once again, fired after accidently spilling out a shipment of fresh caught batch of fish due to mishandling the service functions on the assigned sailboat being drunk way beyond what he would usually keep his levels at, emptying all the fish into the shore waters; leaving the family ran company in despair due to the pressing matter of keeping up with their quota due to the early already announced probably soon to be lockdowns. People needed the food, and this was simply the bottom line that had him fired. There would take ages to re-plan another trip, fill their catch, go back and then also manage to start their drying process of the fish in time.
Lost, yet again, he decided to just grab his few kept belongings, and hitchhiked as far as he could, aiming to return to his homeland. However after traveling for a while explosions could be heard, massive smoke barriers sticking above the top of the treelines deep into the Scandinavian forests he understood that something really, really is not right. His last ride, literally in panic told Johan to get off, since they've heard on their long-distance radio that the lockdowns are failing and people are disregarding the governments plead to stay inside, so they need to turn a 180 and go back to their family in Finland.
Alone again, he only did what he could, start walking, stealing a bike or whatever transportation that he found that he deemed was abandoned. Unfortunately for him, Johan as loving of nature as he is, really blows at geography and basic south-north-west whatever, thinking he was heading towards Sweden, suddenly ended up at the Norwegian boarders, no worries right? Simply find the next city and ask for directions as soon as he realized...?
One day as he was walking on a deserted road with vehicle after vehicle lined up with their occupants no where to be seen he finally saw the blue bright, yet corroded sign displaying "Welcome to Nyheim"... *fuck* he thought to himself, well at least it isn't those Danes...
