Background
Born in the slums of Sheffield, Gary Smith was the 4th son in a family of 4 children. Gary spent most of his days with his older brother Tommy as his father was often away fishing on his trawler and Gary was not very fond of his mother. He would follow Tommy to pubs at a young age and sit outside waiting for people to leave cigarettes and beer and would find a passion for bare-knuckle boxing with his brother. He would often participate on organised bare-knuckle boxing matches and having bets placed on him to win enough money to buy another round of beer for him and his brother. When his brother Tommy would be charged with GBH and assault at the age of 21 their father forced him to work for him on his fishing trawler, this angered Gary who felt left behind by his brother and betrayed by his family. So at the age of 19 Gary felt lost and didn't know what to do with himself, that was until a local gangster employed him as a loan shark and this would set Gary on a spiral of violence, money and crime. When the virus started spreading Gary left Sheffield to be smuggled into Nyheim, a place in Norway where he thought he would be safe from the infected. After spending his hard-earned money to be proffesionally smuggled onto a cargo ship Gary arrived in Nyheim after a 6 day voyage. That's when he saw his father's old fishing trawler shipwrecked and on fire at the shore. This is when he knew his brother and/or father would be in Nyheim and he set out to find them. He finally found Tommy and felt at home again with his brother and knew he would do whatever it takes to keep them safe.
