Rory is a Mid 30's male from Scotland.
While contracted to an oil firm, he was travelling for work just before the outbreak. Prior to heading home he decided to take some time to explore Nyheim as he had always liked the idea of exploring Norway. It was while exploring Nyheim that the outbreak began. Rory tried to get home at first, but upon discovering the global nature of the disaster and realising his family were likely gone, engaged in a period of self-destructive behaviour. After coming to the conclusion that he should try to go on, if only to preserve the memory of his loved ones, he began to get to grips with his new situation.
Rory is quite introverted and quiet and is used to being alone, but not incapable of working with others when he needs to. Given that he lived in a rather remote location in Scotland, he's also accustomed to the outdoors and is generally good at working with his hands. He's also not averse to bad weather or extreme conditions.
Rory isn't religious and was quite political prior to the outbreak. He worked in IT and enjoyed running and working in his garden, as well as a nice whiskey. He had a wife and two sons, presumed dead. Rory grew up in a working class neighbourhood in Glasgow which was quite rough. As a consequence of his upbringing he's no stranger to a scrap. He's had his share of mental illness over the years but is otherwise stable, through quiet and reserved. Despite this he's quite loyal and prone to acts of kindness. He's a bit awkward about receiving gifts and/or praise, though he's fairly intelligent and good at logical problems. It's difficult for Rory to discuss the past, though the past is very much the only thing keeping him going.
