Born to an average family in Cambridge, England, Charles Watts distinguished himself in school with his exceptional intelligence and work ethic. Earning straight A's and graduating with honors, he went on to earn an undergraduate degree in Marketing and to secure himself as the Social Media Manager of Bradford Coal Co.'s eastern operations. In only a few short years, he managed to grow Bradford's Twitter account from 3,000 to over 100,000 followers, following a successful advertising campaign claiming that "solar panels kill 10 million people a year", and "windmills make your dick shrink". Through his memes and viral clapbacks, Bradford's image was reformed and new coal mines were opened across Eurasia, creating thousands of jobs.
That is, until a Chernarussian journalist fabricated a hitpiece on the working conditions of Bradford Coal's miners in their country. Alleging that the company was breaking quarantine guidelines and child labor laws, and insisting that they were going to "cause a fourth a fourth wave" of the Frenzy Flu, Charles flew out with his social media team to the Chernarussian branch to do damage control. After recording several interviews, one of the cameramen was assaulted by one of the miners, who was then subdued and taken into police custody. Seeing an opportunity, Charles went to Twitter, uploading pictures of his coworker's bites and accusing the miner of being a "radical unionist". The Tweet went viral with thousands denouncing labor regulations, and the journalist getting so many death threats he had to delete his account. Justice was served, the company's image was restored, and Charles could finally go home...or so he thought.
He and his team were questioned the next day by government officials. After they confirmed that the cameraman had been attacked by the frenzied individual, the entire team was detained, with the cameraman being put on high-security lockdown and the rest of the team being put on watch. Several days passed, and when it was clear that Charles showed no signs of infection, he was informed that things had become more dangerous and was released into a relocation camp. With all conventional methods out of the country shut down, Charles waited in the relocation camp for things to calm down and the virus to be contained.
However, things didn't calm down. More and more civilians flowed into the camp by the day, and no help seemed to be coming. Food had to be rationed, people were sleeping on the ground, and tensions were rising. Charles was still hopeful however, and believed that the government would bring things under control. At least, he was until the first of June, 2020.
It was Pride month, and Charles had prepared an image supporting it in advance. He tweeted it from the official Bradford Coal Co. account early in the morning, and was eager to see the response it would get. He refreshed the page...then refreshed it again. He refreshed the page over and over, and over and over. He went through all five stages of grief in one morning, before finally accepting the truth.
He had only gotten 7 likes in over 3 hours. This was the end of days. The collapse of society was underway, and the apocalypse inevitable.
Rather than wait for the camp to be overrun or collapse from internal pressures, Charles showed initiative. That night he stole all the supplies he could carry and set off on his own. His only goal was to survive by any means necessary. Maybe one day this would all blow over and he could go back home. Or maybe, just maybe, he would find new purpose in Chernarus and live his life there.
Recently, Charles has started going by the alias "Vladimir Peskov" to make himself seem more sympathetic to the average Chernarussian. Despite the fact that he doesn't speak Russian or have a Russian accent, no one really seems to call him out on it.
