Truth is, Jerry never much cared for the was things were... he always preferred the wilderness and the solitude of the North. When the pandemic struck while he was on a Nordic survivalist 'vacation', he hardly even noticed.
In some ways, the new order is an improvement; or, at least, the rest of the world now make sense to Jerry for the first time in a long time.
If Jerry has one flaw, it's his inability to let a slight go. Although he's thick skinned and not easily offended, if offended he will certainly devise a revenge. But he is patient... very patient.
Gerald now plans to carve out his own little slice in this world, doing what he does best -- surviving, hunting, exploring. He is optimistic about the future -- it now seems like the skills he has are well suited for his new circumstances, but remains wary of human nature (especially during what others consider extreme circumstances!)
