Cole was born into the perfect Nuclear Family. He was the youngest of three. He had an older brother and a sister. He was raised much like his older brother, his father always pushed him into trying new things all the time. As soon as he could walk, his father had pushed him into playing sports and even eventually wrestling. At first, he hated it, but as time went on he'd grown to be overjoyed by the fact that his father had allowed him to meet many friends and try and a plethora of new things he'd have never done otherwise. Eventually, he found his true calling though. Out of everything he tried, two things stuck with him the most. A Military combatives class he had begun taking with a few friends, wrestling, and basketball. He was always better than most people at basketball, most likely because he was one of the taller kids in his class. He had also found Military combatives to be a great way to learn to fight, and defend yourself. Life was always looking up for him.
Eventually, during the final stretch of his 8th-grade year, his family had planned out a vacation to some strange place that he didn't even think he'd heard of before. They spoke about a few landmarks that didn't really spark his interest that much, save for some cool sounding castle, and that they said that they'd be staying there for about a week. He still didn't care that much, but didn't mind either way, because it was a free get out of school pass and a chance to spend some time with his family and meet new people. Eventually, the day came, and they packed their bags and boarded their flight to Chernarus. When they arrived, they were somewhat surprised. It didn't look like some of the pictures they had seen, but there was definitely still some beauty to it. They made they're way down to the nearest town and looked for where they were staying. When they found it, they began unpacking and settling in. The room was quite cozy and very different when compared to the many hotels they had back in the States. After that, their vacation began.
The first thing they did was travel to the ruins of a castle, one of the only things that really sparked Cole's interest, he enjoyed traveling around them and imagining what all happened around the castle during its life. After that, they traveled to a few other hotspots in the area. When they were done for the day, they'd made their way back to their rooms. They settled in for what may have been the last peaceful night of their lives.
The next day, it seemed as though all hell began to break loose. It began with what had sounded like gunshots, early in the morning. Followed by what seemed to be a lady's scream. Their parents had quickly woken Cole, and his two siblings up and told them to get their things. The began to pack what little they could into their carry-on bags they had brought for the flight. They packed only the bare necessities and made their way to the exit. Their father's first instinct was to get out of the town, and head for the country. They did exactly that. Making they're way into the woods and hiding in an abandoned hunting cabin. The place wasn't the best looking but was acceptable unless you dared question what had stained some of the wood red. They began to hole up in there. Surviving on whatever they could scavenge. Eventually, they began to notice something off about their father. He had begun to show a few symptoms of a sickness. During many nights, he'd leave the cabin to go throw-up, and when anyone went to investigate, they'd notice red began to also show in the puke. One night, the three siblings had awakened to screams of their mother. They saw blood on the floor, and their mother's face frozen. They also saw their father kneeling over her, twitching. As they got up, the "Father" began to turn around and face the three. His face had now been covered in blood, and many other things the kids didn't want to see.
The eldest brother got up and reached for a fire poker that had been next to the fireplace. He held it in front of the three, not knowing what had happened to their father. That's when their father had lunged at their brother, and he tried to defend himself. While trying to hold father back, he screamed at Cole and his sister to "Run!" And run they did. They bolted out the door into the woods, running as far as they could, their brothers screams slowly fading behind them.
Cole and his sister had remained together for almost a year, traveling from place to place. Living off of canned food stolen from un-scavenged grocery stores. They didn't trust anyone after what happened that night and tried to avoid towns altogether. Eventually, though, they had to head to one. Many of the tools that had been using had begun to wear down, and they needed new clothes. They attempted to sneak into a town to look for these items, trying to find anything that could help them. Unfortunately, while looting they had accidentally knocked a large number of tools over. The sound rang throughout the town like a dinner bell for the dead. They attempted to finish looting as fast as they could, but they weren't fast enough. Neither of them where skilled melee fighters, but Cole stepped up to the challenge. He'd began to fight off a few of their attackers, but was beginning to be overwhelmed. Luckily, his sister had finished looting. They made their way out by breaking a window, or so they thought. After Cole climbed through, his sister followed, but she let out a scream as she had done so. She had sliced up part of her leg on some glass that had remained on the window, and she began to bleed uncontrollably. Cole attempted to fight off their assailants and help his sister move, but it was to no avail. In a last-ditch effort. He ditched all of his things save for the clothes on his back, moved his sister to a building, and began to scream at the attackers, attempting to draw all of them towards him. He screamed his lungs off, taunting for them to follow him in an attempt to lead them away from his sister. After he'd pull what seemed like the town's entire population after him, he ran. He ran as fast as he could, making his way to the forests nearby and losing the horde in the trees. In the end, he ran so far he had lost himself in the forest. Hiding there for a while, hoping that the horde wouldn't find him. He now found himself empty-handed, and completely alone in the wilderness of a foreign land.
