Frederik Myrtaj, now 48 years old, was born and raised in Southern Albania. Like most Albanian men born under the yoke of Communism, Frederik received military training, ultimately serving as a tank driver. He saw no active combat and saw an end to his service in 1991 when the Albanian Revolution reached its culmination point.
Frederik, for much of his adult life, was unemployed. He struggled to find work, and when he did manage to find a job, it generally did not last for more than a month or two. Despite that fact Frederik got married and had two children, each day hoping that his family would be drawn for the lottery to immigrate to the United States. That day never came.
In late 2016, Frederik's cousin was able to get him a job as a long haul truck driver, delivering minerals mined in Albania to surrounding areas. On July 2nd, 2017, Frederik was tasked with making a delivery to Zelenegorsk in Chernarus. He arrived on July 6th, just before the outbreak took hold of the nation of Chernarus. The next day, when Frederik began his trek back to Albania he came upon a checkpoint, completely unaware of the circumstances.
Since the outbreak well over a year ago, Frederik has been stuck in Chernarus. The dwindling hope that his family may still be surviving is about the only thing driving him to keep moving.
