William Cochrane, born in Oxford, 1986, United Kingdom to an English father and Irish mother, who were rather wealthy. His family decided to move to Berrick-upon-Tweed to escape to the country for peace and quiet. As a young boy he was an avid sportsman experimenting with many activities. The one that stood out to him however, was water polo. He would play almost everyday after school. This is where he initially met Martin Chelmsford, an avid swimmer at the same indoor pool. It wasn't until the final year of high school that he finally befriended Martin Chelmsford, during the High School Prom. William arrived lavishly in a fancy limousine with a fine suit tailored in Italy. High on cocaine and other drugs, he initiated conversation with Martin, to which he introduced the drug. William had always gotten away with his misbehavior as he was known all around as his family was the wealthiest in Berrick-upon-Tweed, he'd often bribe any authorities with a handsome sum of money.
As William grew older, he continued with his immature lavish lifestyle of parties and drugs. His father's death had caused a change in behavior. He knew that his undisciplined way of life would drain his bank, so he started to take control. William arrived in Chernarus looking to invest a portion of his inheritance in the gas and mining industry as the country was rebuilding. Then the outbreak happened. Cut off from his family and connections in England, he was alone and without the power of his wealth. He fell into a deep depression, where he barricaded himself into an abandoned bar. He spent the next few days drinking from the beer taps until he'd pass out drunk.
It wasn't until he saw first hand the horrors that lay outside, savage people that had pounded and broke their way into the bar that made him realize the danger he was in. Drunk out of his mind he managed to escape from a window in the back, wielding a cane as a make shift weapon. He realized that he had to take action and take control of his situation. For the next few weeks he managed to live in the forests surrounding the area, this is where he met an old Chernarussian man, hostile at first, but William managed to calm him down as he showed he was no danger. This man spoke no English but managed to help William learn valuable skills for survival in the forest. He taught him the basics of fire making, hunting and skinning animals. For several months William stuck with this man, until one day the man fell ill after weeks of heavy rain. Eventually the illness got the better of the old man. William was alone. He once again felt depressed and hopeless, once again turning to the little alcohol he could find to drown his sorrows. After weeks of depression and drinking he'd often find himself wake up in strange places, often forgetting how he'd get there, this eventually lead up to his unlikely reunion with an old friend - Martin Chelmsford.
