Cody Roy is an American journalist. He covered the events of the South Zagoria martial law in May, prior to the outbreak, when he fell in love with Chernarus and it's rural setting. Ultimately, he became a correspondent in the Green Sea region, moving his family- wife Meagan and daughter Summer, in with his translator Petr in Polana where he operated from.
Cody and Petr were covering a local election in Krasnostav when the saga began with the bombing of Troitskoe Military Base. A contact of Cody's in Severograd advised staying away, so the team retreated to Polana to work remotely- calling every contact they had in the country.
As society broke down, Cody's only priority was protecting his family and best friend. They joined the exodus west, but only made it as far as Chernogorsk, where they remained for a week. As the riots began in the city, the team fled into the countryside to fend for themselves. Foraging was difficult but effective for the first few days. Their first attempt at returning to civilization proved deadly- as Petr sacrificed himself to save Summer from a zombie that had snuck up on them. Meagan was the next to go, a few days later, as starvation took the slender brunette away from her daughter.
Summer, for a six year old, survived quite a long time in the apocalypse. Her father had taught her how to defend herself with a blade, how to forage and craft, and even how to hold a gun. Time finally caught up to her, as she slipped down a rocky slope, eventually falling to her injuries from a broken leg.
Cody was all alone, his family all gone too soon, all because he fell in love with a Middle-Eastern country no one had ever heard of. He returned to Petr's home in Polana, knelt in front of the door and drew his pistol. As he reached for the trigger, someone yelled. There, he met Daisy, a girl of 20 with a broken arm. He nursed her back to health, and she made sure he wasn't alone, until one faithful night when she suddenly vanished.
Again, Cody was alone, broken... but there was a glimmer of hope. Was Daisy still alive? Where was she? She had become a symbol of hope in his darkest hour, and he had a reason to fight.
