He bought a house in his home town of Rogovo and settled down working as a Store manager. He tried to rejoin the army during the Civil War but age was not kind to him and he had failed the physical exam by only an few points. After his small stash of food ran out a 2 weeks later, he emerged from his home hesitantly looking across the empty streets filled with dead and moving corpses he couldn't believe what he was seeing. He ran threw his old military training in his head and decided He headed for the coast hoping to find some kind of Military force at his old base or a means of escape. As he walked he picked up odds and ends along the way and trading them with anyone he would run into along his journey. He Avoided any conflict when he could, even leaving a pleading couple to their fate when surrounded by infected. He felt like a true coward as he left those people to die, But he kept giving himself the excuse that he was too old to help them and that he would have died anyway, as a means to justify his actions. When he neared the coast he wasn't watching his surrounding as he beamed with a sense of hope that was cut short by a crowbar to the back of the head. He was being robbed by a group of bandits who took all of his supplies, beating him, and dumping him on the side of the road and leaving him for dead. As Sal laid there he looked back on his life and how disappointing it truly was, the people he had let down including himself and he prayed to whatever god would hear him that if he survived he would become a force of good.
