Meet Nickolai Boronov, born to Russian parents just a year after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Alina Boronov, and Mineyev Boronov in the year 1990. Nikolai and his parents almost immediately immigrated out of Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union. He was too young to remember much of those days, but he was raised in the prosperous free land of America. After migrating through Europe, they wound up in New York City. The Boronovs moved around a bit more, finally settling in the city of Boston, Massechussettes. Nikolai had a relatively normal childhood, but was picked on for his heavy Russian accent. His parents, obviously native Russian speakers, had a heavy influence on Nikolai's accent. Having this access as a child, Nikolai is very fluent in American English. He toughened up a little in High School, sometimes got into trouble. He would "procure" alchohol in his later years of school, and throw large parties. He had a couple run-ins with the police but no truly arrestable offenses. He was often let off with a warning from the police, and a scolding from his mother. After High School, he went to college, studying Social Science and eventually managed to change after meeting his first girlfriend. Nikolai fell madly in love with Vanessa and she got him to see the error in his ways. They dated throughout the term in college, and after his education, he decided to migrate back to Europe. Nikolai worked hard to save up enough for the trip. He and Vanessa relocated to Chernogorsk, a port city on the coast where he would work as a Social Welfare Worker, assigned cases to dole out State Benefits to Chernarusian citizens, still feeling the wake of the 2009 Chernarus Conflict all these years later. And one day, some strange news reports caught his attention. Then the infection began. It spread viciously, and before he could rescue her, Vanessa had been turned into one of the Zombies in the initial wave. Nikolai failed to escape with everyone else, he got trapped by a horde, and had to run in the opposite direction. Lost and confused, he would survive on scraps just to get by. Nikolai met some fellow survivors. At first, he was elated. He greeted them with open arms and a friendly hello. But it was an experience he would unfortunately live to regret. The survivors were bandits who bound Nikolai. They ignored his please, beat him a little, and force-fed him some gasoline just for grins. They left him for dead in the middle of the road. Surprisingly, he did not die that day. And even more incredibly, he had not been subjected to the infection that had befallen so many others. After that, he avoids all human contact when possible. He does not trust anyone anymore, having been scarred for life during the bandits in the apocalypse. Nikolai tries to get by on scraps, avoiding cities where possible, and especially any allegience to any 'group'. He is incredibly suspicious of anyone trying to pose as a 'friend'.
