Aaron is a woodsman and carpenter with a strong sense of caution and trust in his instincts; he suffers moderate alcoholism after years of dealing with heartbreak, which has dimmed his survival instincts. He is aware of his vices and intends to overcome them. His wife of 12 years had been cheating on him with his childhood best friend, and abandoned him and his two children when discovered. He had moved to the city of Miroslavi to raise his girls with his wife around her job, leaving his parents home in the northeast untended. After the outbreak reached his suburb, Aaron found his girls had been hunted by his neighbor Jane, who he decapitated with his father's hammer from his workshop. As his world was falling apart and his girls were turning, he took what he could and fled on foot into the neighboring hills. Grappling with leaving his daughters to die and letting them turn left him full of regret, he settled to do the right thing eventually; to find and bury his daughters...whatever it took.
