He was raised in a nuclear, working-class family. They raised him well and taught him respect, discipline, self-confidence, they raised him to care for others. He became a chef out of desperation when he needed any job he could find, and decided it was easy work so he kept being a chef. He worked in multiple different restaurants and kitchens over the next few years but he always wanted to travel the world and see new places, so he decided the best idea for him was to join the military as a chef, that way he could keep doing what he enjoyed but could also travel the world like he wanted to. He was with them for a couple years before the NATO forces needed to go to Chernarus, so Jamie volunteered, he went there to work as the relief team, cooking for the soldiers and civilians at whatever run-down base he was posted to. When Chernogorsk erupted with riots and fires, Jamie was asleep after a night of drinking, he woke up to find he was one of the few soldiers left there, the others had gone, so he gathered what gear he could and headed into the wild in hopes of finding the NATO forces. He travelled for months before finding a small group of people he could travel with, sticking with them for several months.
After a large firefight between his group and a bandit group, Jamie was one of only two survivors, but he was severely injured. The other survivor spent a couple of weeks protecting Jamie, and helping him recover, regain his strength, then she sacrificed herself to zombies so he could escape after they wandered past a large horde. The horror Jamie saw, and the feelings of pain and loss he went through was enough to make him travel alone. He went with random survivors and groups if they were headed the same way, but he always went back to travelling alone.
