Background

Previously Alec was a U.S Army Infantry Veteran, in the 10th Mountain Division. Much of his training revolved around arctic or colder environments. While in the Army he met a nationalized foreigner from Russia, a specialist, Pieters. Pieters was a former Russian Infantryman who moved to the U.S and was naturalized by joining the U.S Army. They spoke often about Russia, and the significant differences between the two armies, and how Russia's was more brutal, by far. Alec was a decent infantryman, and went through many trainings, specifically long-rifle training, and mountain warfare school, located in Fort Drum, New York. By no measure was he elite, or comparable to most soldiers found in the Ranger Battalion or Special Forces group, but he was fantastic at his job. After a few years, Alec left the Army by the end of his contract as a specialist. Soon after his wife left him after he fell into a deep depression. During this period, he was contacted by a private military group, Gardaworld, to go to Kabal Afghanistan. While in Kabal, the infection began. From the previous soviet occupancy of Afghanistan, Alec found Amir boarded away in the local pirated DVD shop. Amir was from Kamishovo. He shared Pieters stories of Russia with Amir. They quickly became friends. Amir told Alec that he had heard from previous survivors that the infection had not yet spread to Kamishovo, since the population was so low. After months of travel, Amir passed away from fatigue and the cold temperatures of the winter. Alec barely made it as well, quickly Alec learned that Kamishovo was not immune to the infection, but for now. It's home.
