Born to a devout and poor family in Miroslavl, the young doctor known as Martin Lesky grew up in a life beset on many sides by crime, partisanism, and suffering. His father was a general labourer, and his mother was laden down with Chronic Fatigue syndrome, leaving her unable to work and only barely able to look after her infant son. However Martin was forever a curious youth, always asking questions about how the world worked, how certain machines worked, and also questions about history. Taking a small inheritance, his mother had him whisked away to a boarding school in Novigrad, where he took to schooling voraciously. home to a meticulous and potent mindset - he passed among the top twenty of his class - and continued his education further into the study of medicine. In a few short years, he'd completed the necessary schooling to work as a General Practitioner, as well as receiving a doctorate in medicine - deciding to specialise into burns and anaesthesiology - he soon joined the ranks of the Chernarussian medical community as one of their keenest, and youngest specialists, with the hopes of going on to become a consultant. With such a highly paying job, he managed to lift his struggling parents above the breadline, and having the family move to Berezino - both to take up work there, and get his family out of the poverty stricken area where he had grown up and also intending to repay the debt his mother had taken to allow him such schooling. About a year later, the outbreak hit - with Martin intending to stay behind and help all the wounded that he could.
