James was a curious kid, he was always looking for answers and wanted to find out about other’s stories. During his school years he was diving deep into the understanding of the military and its history. With his father being a US Marine, he was told stories every night when his dad was home from Iraq or Afghanistan. One night his father told him something that would stick with him forever. “James, our troops aren’t the only thing that keeps this country safe, it’s the people that also risk their life to show us what is happening over there.” That night James fell asleep thinking about that answer, he thought to himself that when he got out of highschool he could be shipped out and cover the stories of the US and allied troops risking their lives to protect their countries. Shortly after highschool James moved to New York City to begin his journey into his journalism career. Though after some time sitting in an office attempting to find good stories, he realized this wasn’t what he wanted to do. He wanted to be on the front lines of the war, reporting everything back to the people.
Before shipping out to Afghanistan he met a Photographer named Charli Masaki, she had the same mindset as James and he needed a photographer desperately. Upon seeing her photos he instantly knew that’s who he wanted with him, together they could share the stories to their fellow Americans. Upon returning after a long tour they received a tip about a strange illness spreading throughout Chernarus. They didn’t waste any time and boarded a flight there, little did they know it would be a one way flight.
