My character's name is Jacob Redding and he was a college student on vacation aboard the Costa Risacca who survived the sinking and washed up on shore. As a child he was inducted into the Boy Scouts chapter and spent several years practicing and developing outdoors survival skills and techniques. Observant by nature, he excelled in training and exercises before falling gravely ill during highschool and was forced to drop out of the Scouts. After recovering from life-threatening walking pneumonia, Redding entered the engineering program at a local university and began studying the fundamentals of civil engineering. After a successful first year at school, a cruise-ship vacation aboard the Costa Risacca traveling throughout the Green Sea seemed like a great idea to unwind and learn about foreign architecture in Turkey, Georgia, and Chernarus. It was supposed to be a short vacation, but as the ship went into the storm, the Costa Risacca struck something and the order to abandon ship was given. Some lost their nerves and jumped overboard into the raging waters and were lost, and others began to help the crew load lifeboats as quickly as they could. Life vests were distributed by the crew. Unfortunately, the ship was taking on water too quick and anyone trapped in the lower levels were drowned. The upper decks were battered with pelting rain and the ship began to capsize. The last of the passengers were loaded onto the lifeboats and they set off towards the nearest shoreline, the south coast of Chernarus. Redding was not so lucky, because of the ship capsizing and the rain, he lost his footing on the deck and fell into the storming sea. He awoke on shore, witnessing the fall of humanity as the infected feasted upon the remains of locals and livestock.
