Jakob grew up in a small rural village on the brother between Denmark and Germany. The younger years of his life was the happiest of his life, before the realities of the world around him became apparent to him. At the age of two he gained a younger brother as well by the name of Martin. At the age of 10 he began noticing how his father and mother was always arguing, over his father's alcohol problems. One day Jakob came home from school to find his dad had beaten his younger brother bloody, this was the day when Jakob fully realized the harsh reality that was his life. As he grew up he quickly learned to fear the terror of his father, and to hate the cowardice his mother not protecting him and his brother.Despite his tumultuous childhood Jakob was a very bright student excelling in the maths and science based classes. Although his social interactions were deeply marked by his homelife, he quickly learned to conform to a bigger group so he didn't stand out to avoid conflict.
Jakob was recruited by a major shipping right out of college, he left his original plan of study because the potential salary of this job was much higher. Because of this Jakob had to leave his home region, having to travel to an Island in Kattegat, to study at a prestigious Marine Academy. Jakob didn't bother to keep up contact with his family, and didn't talk with him except the holidays and on birthdays. 5 years later he finished his education
Spending years at sea gaining a career, was perfect for Jakob as he was far away from large groups of people and had a very structured existence. This was only interrupted after a major accident aboard his ship caused him to be fired, forcing him to relocate to a job on a Cruise ship. This was how Jakob ened up on the Costa Risacca as a 3rd engineer. The rest is just history, surviving in foreign country not knowing the language has been an impossible task. Jakob learned to take when dying, to be submissive when in necessary and to keep his head down.
