Background
Aram Eskandarian was a career sailor. Besides a short stint in the Armenian military as a conscript, he has known only the sea. Born an only child in Yerevan, Armenia to an Armenian father and a Chernorussian mother, Aram's childhood was spent in the Capital and his father's home village on the shores of Lake Sevan. With his parents marriage disintegrating, Aram found solace hunting and fishing in the woods. Upon reaching adulthood, he decided to escape the landlocked country of his birth and see the World. After his military Service, Aram signed up for a merchant shipping career in Novigrad. Despite sailing all over the world with short stays back home in Yerevan, Aram nevertheless married his childhood sweetheart Maria and had a son, Alan. Tragedy hits when Alan was struck down by pneumonia. Devastated by this loss, Aram's marriage disintegrated and he takes to the sea again. During the course of a routine sail, the Infection caused his shipmates to turn on each other and beach the ship. Aram found himself stranded on Chenarus. Stranded, wounded, and lost; he must not only figure out what has gone wrong but also to live on to tell the story of his crew's demise. In the face of all the horror, he must survive while retaining his humanity and sanity. With only the wet clothes on his back and a shortwave radio from his beached vessel, Aram sets off in search of water, food, shelter, and fellow survivors. In time he finds a land plagued both by the Infected and worse...factions of desperate survivors hellbent on fighting over the scraps of humanity.
