Since the outbreak, Karla Novotny roams Chernarus. She appears as a typical survivor. She tries to stay out of trouble and away from conflicts with other survivors and keeps her head low, taking cover in woods around Chernarus. She doesn't feel comfortable in big cites and only makes her ways through those if she has to. At the beginning of the outbreak she was separated of her boyfriend and her son. Over time she kept searching around the area where they have lived but then started to take bigger routes. Other survivors gave her hints and information on her family, so she kept going further and further. She never managed to find them and with that her hope to see them again has disappeared more and more.
Karla shows slightly depressive mood swings. She tends to fight her emotional state with alcohol, sometimes other substances. Since the outbreak the Chernarussian woman had to protect herself from other survivor and infected and simply days of dehydration and hunger. There have been times in which she wished to simply die to one of the infected creatures. But she was never able to ignore her instinct of staying alive. Karla managed somehow to figure her own way of survival during her travels through the country.
In her early 20s Karla experienced the bloody face of the civil war in Chernarus. She was living in a small town with her family during that time and supported other natives as a volunteer. She did learn how to shoot a gun during those times but never had to fight, herself.
Karla does not feel comfortable around too many people at once. She always keeps an eye on a potential fastest way out or a place to hide. She is not to be underestimated because of that. She can appear very careful but if confronted she stands her ground and follows her own rules, erasing self-determined danger. She probably has met a lot of trustworthy people but struggles to deal with strangers along her way.
