Artura is part of a family descended from a King, supposedly, or so the blood ancestry tests showed her when she was living in her place alongside her parents in Scarborough, England. In such, she ended up becoming obsessed with Medieval times and always carries a book based on "The Crusades" with her. She lived somewhat in peace, in a fairly wealthy family, as her parents were both lawyers and people of God. Alongside her parents and her sister, her family had a guaard by the name of Maverick, who didn't talk much, but seemed to have a resentment for kids. Her sister, Aurora, was always under her, watching and copying what she did as if looking up to her, even down to the last moment Artura saw her being taken away.
Artura and her family had just arrived in their hotel in Chernogorsk a day before the infected started appearing. Her Mother immediately fell ill after returning from a shopping spree and turned in their hotel room while they were under surveillance by Maverick. Arthur had to kill his wife to protect his children, not allowing Maverick to do the deed.
After escaping the now overrun hotel, they made it out into a small farming town further inland. Not knowing Chernorussian, the family had a hard time getting around and deciphering their whereabouts. Surviving most of the aftermath of fighting and ransacking, the family chose to stay here as their main home. They kept an ear out for any rescue teams, but to no avail. By this time, Chernarus was overrun, and abandoned after the attempts at holding it.
Artura was not on the first raid for food that Arthur died on, and she hadn't seen it first hand, but as Maverick told it, he had died to a group of infected that horded them in the supermarket. Artura was at the house with her sister, both of them being taught in self defense and combat by their families guard, leaving Maverick to fend off the infected and bury Arthurs body properly. She was scarred by the fact she couldn't protect her father, or in this case, her father and her sister. As the two men battled it out in the nearby city, the house was overtaken by men in black suits. Not being able to do anything due to being quickly overwhelmed and tied down in one of the rooms, she had to sit in the shadows and vow vengeance on these men who ended up kidnapping her sister. It often keeps her up at night.
After losing her family, she decided to go it alone, save for Maverick, who didn't talk much to her anyways. Ultimately becoming more and more secluded as a person, even with the friends that she has made, and those that are within her trusted group, she still does not share anything that wouldn't benefit their morale.
