Background

Meet Tobias Plimmft. He is a Chernarus local after moving there some time ago, and has lived there for a number of years before the outbreak. He used to make his living in the wine industry both as a wine salesman and general wine professional (whether that involved tasting / judging, offering winemakers help in setting up new wineries, or offering a personal sommelier service for certain rich clients). He also did a brief 4-year stint in the Chernarus Defence Force when he was straight out of high school, however he was discharged and didn't continue due to starting to develop some PTSD and mental health issues.

Before the outbreak he also lived with his young daughter (no other children, and her mother died in childbirth), however within the first year of the outbreak she was killed in front of him in an extremely traumatic way and actually ended up being fed to him by a group of cannibal raiders who lived in a bunker. These raiders kept him alive for a year, regularly torturing him physically and mentally and feeding him human flesh, until one day he bit off his left thumb to escape his bindings and preceded to methodically kill every cannibal he could find. He wasn't able to escape the bunker however before the remainder of the cannibals sealed him in there in complete darkness. This is where he finally snapped for good. He already had a predisposition to mental illness (depression, anxiety, and PTSD from his stint in the military).. And due to the complete blackness, the absolute isolation, his year of torture, the death of his daughter, and having to blindly make his way around the bunker - storing and eating the remains of the cannibals he had killed to survive, he finally goes insane.

He survives in the bunker for 6 months until another group of survivors find it and open it, thinking once they clean the place out they had found a good new home. Unfortunately for them, in his schizophrenic haze he assumed they were the same cannibals who left him there and slaughtered all of them. He ate better than he had all year on that night... and this began the darkest part of his time since the outbreak as he became an insane cannibal raider himself, killing not just for food but for sport - and enjoying finding new ways to cook and eat human meat.

After awhile however he finds another young girl whose parents gave their life for her to lock her in an air duct with some food and water. For the first time in a long time he halfway snaps out of his insane stupor, as memories of his daughter and his life before the outbreak come back. He starts trying to raise her and trying to be better for her, going cold turkey on human meat. Giving it up entirely and having this relationship with her also manages his insanity, and he starts to improve and make more sense of the world every day. Unfortunately not too long after she also is tragically killed by infected, but he has the realisation that he actually has a choice now. He can give up on life itself and go back into an insane haze of death and destruction, or for his daughter, for the little girl, and for his own mental state: he can continue to make objectively good choices, and try to never eat human meat again...
