Harald was a sailor and hobbyist ethnobothanical researcher, a kind and jovial man he loved the sea and his dog. After a car crash killed his wife and kids he went into a five year long depression after which he found a guru while vacationing in the himalayas, the guru taught him that nothing matters and his lust for life came back, he spent the next years partying and experementing with substances, legal and not. After the drugs took their toll and a brief visit to a mental hospital Harald went back to what he loved, sailing the ocean looking for wierd plants.
He was shipwrecked on chernarus while sailing off the coast, he had consumed a whole bush of a previously unknown psychoactive plant he discovered while smoking salvia with an eskimo shaman in Italy and was not fit to operate any vehicle.
He washed ashore and when he woke up, he felt both lost and at home at the same time.
