Frank Greene was born in rural Kentucky to a relatively stable household. His father served in the United States Army, and his mother was a police officer. Growing up he had a sense of dedication and service and joined the army out of high school. He went on to serve for 6 years before volunteering with the United Nations. Frank went on to be deployed into Takistan shortly before the outbreak occurred. He was then deployed to the Takistan-Chernarus border at the outbreak to attempt to quarantine Chernarus when the virus initially broke out. As the virus continued to spread, the unit Frank was with retreated into Takistan and was eventually separated. Without any way to continue to communicate, Frank began to wander, and eventually found his way into Chernarus.
After a few days in Chernarus, Frank found a group of friends in some traders at Vybor, and settled there. He was quite content, even began farming to help try to redeem the tarnished name of the United Nations in Chernarus. Things looked like they were going well for Frank, despite quite a few nearly violent encounters with those who hated the UN. He was doing well, and going out routinely to help gather supplies to trade with the traders and help keep them supplied. One day, while engaging some infected to help try and clear out a small outlying village, he was cornered by a horde and sustained life-threatening injuries. Due to the lack of medicine in the area, the immense pain and mobility-limiting natures of his injuries, and the constantly deteriorating state of his own mental health, Frank decided to turn his sidearm on himself and take his own life.
