Before the outbreak, Jason "Hearts" Lee was a 34 year old SGM in the US Army based out of FT. Benning. He got the nickname "Hearts" for his positive outlook and always trying to get the "hearts and minds" of the locals. He was on a deployment in Eastern Europe (Chernarus) tasked with gathering intelligence about an ISIS group that popped on the radar. While scouting out a possible camp just north of where "Hearts" was stationed, he got a call over the radio to exfil ASAP due to something happening at home. He hopped on a helicopter later that night to go to the closest NATO base. Unfortunately, on the way there, a malfunction happened, and the helicopter went down like a rock. There were few survivors. During the night of securing the crashsite, "Hearts" started to notice something strange. The fatally wounded started to "come back". They were different, and something didnt feel right. One of the other survivors was a medic, and was treating everyones wounds. During the treatment of a wounded soldier, the soldier turned into something not human. It grabbed the medic and started to lunge, trying to bite. Jason acted, and shot. So many questions started to flood his mind: "What was that", "Was this the same thing that was happening at home?". Radio calls started to go back and forth between command and Jason until there was radio silence. Jason called and called but no response. After a trek to the closest friendly outpost, there was no one there to greet. Stuck in Chernarus, Jason had no choice other than to stick close by hoping for friendly faces. Weeks have gone by, and no sign. He eventually started venturing out, hearing multiple firefights, and seeing few friendly faces. Was he ever going to get back home? Jason isnt sure, but having the positive mindset he has, there was no choice but to hope.
