Born to Polish immigrants in Hull, England, Alek grew up with constant pressure from his parents to assimilate with the British culture. His parents wanted him to fit in and make the most of the opportunities afforded to him as such he was successful in school growing up. Making the most of his education and eventually being accepted to University to study engineering. While this made his parents happy Alek remained unfulfilled. Something was missing from his life and deep down he longed to discover his past.
He felt like a failure to his heritage, a man living a lie for the benefit of his parents. After all while he had been sucessful in school he had not been liked by the other English students, they would remind him daily that he didn't belong and while he tried to ignore it it wore on him. Half way through his first year at University Alek decided to take a trip to Poland. Visiting his grandparents first he spent some time with them and began to further research his family's history.
His Great-Grandfather had come from Chernarus, a country on the Green Sea South of Russia. In truth Alek had never heard of the place and discovering that his heritage spread even further than just Poland he was intrigued. Around this time, however, the country started to pop up in the news more, something about an illness and UN being sent to assist. Still Alek wanted to find out more about the place, and to do so he wanted to visit the country. Unfortunately, before he could do so the outbreak began to spread and the country went into collapse.
Quickly swept up into situations he didn't really understand Alek found himself on a train to Kiev, Ukraine, alongside a quickly established militia to fight on the frontlines against the spreading hordes of infected. Unfortunately the train never made it and they were left stranded somewhere in the West of Ukraine.
Following this Alek decided top continue heading South West towards the home of his ancestors. Carrying with him everything he could, and doing his best to avoid trouble, the now Ex-student began the long trip to South Zagoria.
