Background

Since birth, Akio has led a rough life. He was the son of a Japanese sweat shop worker in the United States of America. His father was the factory manager, with a taste for his "employees". When Akio's mother learned of her pregnancy she was ecstatic; she thought she now had a way to gain citizenship. Akio had become for her what Americans refer to as an Anchor Baby. When his father learned of the child from another "employee", he feared he would lose a worker and have his factory discovered by law enforcement. He called Akio's mother to his office and strangled her to death. He left the shades to his office open, so that the other workers would see and stay in line. An elderly worker saw this and took Akio away, using her and his mother's life savings to live.

When Akio was 3 years old she passed away in a motel room they had been living in due to her old age. Akio was taken to an orphanage by the motel manager and abandoned there. He grew up in a vile environment, becoming a bit of a trouble maker over his years there. He always got into fights for stupid reasons, and he was usually treated poorly by staff at the orphanage. He was adopted by USMC Sergeant Gerard D. Rockford at the age of 12. His adoptive father taught him the value of honor, loyalty, and trust. It was inevitable, then, that he would join the Corps at the age of 18. He served 4 years until he was dishonorably discharged. He had picked a fight with a corrupt group of officers who he claimed ,'Had no honor' and 'Didn't deserve to serve'. After multiple skirmishes with them he was finally court-martialed and discharged.

In an attempt to regain his father's favor, Akio embarked on various adventures as a mercenary. His latest contract is a rescue mission to the latest disaster zone, Chernarus. A wealthy client's heir was in Chernarus when a massive "revolt" broke out and his family has put up a large bounty for his safe return. Akio accepted the contract and got on a boat with multiple other mercenaries working the same job. After a stormy night, the boat crashed into rocks off the coast and many of the mercenaries and their gear aboard were lost, Akio was knocked unconscious and washed up onto shore. He awoke on the coast without his weapon or the location of the target. Surviving thanks to the aid of the few benevolent souls he met on his travels, he searched for his target. Battling through infected hordes and twisted bandits, he came to realize that the heir he had come to save may not have survived this new world. Akio still attempted to complete his mission, but soon found it impossible. Unlike in Hollywood movies, trying to complete such a mission without any information or tactical support doesn't work out all that well in the end. After his failure, he made several attempts over the years to carve out a meaningful life in these bandit infested lands, but to no avail. He now roams aimlessly with no home to return to, nor a cause to fight for.
