  9. Occupation

Anders remembers very little of his childhood. He witnessed his parents spiral into meth addiction at an early age; and eventually he watched his father brutally murder his mother before his own eyes at just age 9. The police found him a home with a foster home run by Mormons, and the sudden chance for order in his life had Anders accept his faith wholeheartedly. He took up the nickname "Abel" both because of his desire to be named after Genesis, and to rid his mind of his abusive, monstrous father and began to believe fully in the words of the Latter Day Saints. He eventually found himself in Chernarus on a religious mission, and to provide humanitarian aid for refugees of South Zagoria. During this mission, his transport van was attacked by ChDKZ fighters who believed they were smuggling the CDF supplies; and several of the lead members of the mission were executed. "Abel" spoke enough Chernorussian to communicate that he was helping civilians, not soldiers, but was still captured by the Chidaki and put into a gulag. He remained there until near the end of the war, his schizophrenia only growing worse and worse with the stress and torture. When the Chidaki had been defeated the CDF transferred all the unstable prisoners to "re-integration" camps, for evaluation. It was then that they decided to send Anders, now "Abel" to Paradise Springs, in the very south of Russia for help.

"2-4" (Two dash Four) is Ander's alter-ego. The name stems from his ID number which was printed on to his strait jacket. He is an immature, violent, and extremely unpredictable character. He is prone to random psychotic episodes, and actively battles Anders for control of the "sleeve" they share. 2-4 became a permanent part of Ander's schizophrenia and first became "visualized" by Anders when the outbreak began. Following the evacuation and of faculty and abandonment of patients in Paradise Springs; 2-4 fought his way out past the other patients and out of the facility. He then began a trek far, far away. After torturing a russian family very near the border for information and world news, 2-4 opted to head into the now lawless Chernarus to the south in order to prevent any recapture. For a whole week, Anders was 2-4; and eventually made it home free into the playground of chaos that would become his new home.

Anders/Abel regained control of his body, and eventually suppressed 2-4. But his schizophrenia was too far gone. He began seeing people that were not there, people who had been wounded or passed on. The undead would speak to him; and he believed he was able to see the dead. Perhaps with medication...
