Gloom. Darkness. Rain began to puddle up at my feet so I pulled them closer to my buttocks from the sitting position I was in under some tree out north of elektro. I began to shiver as the cold creeped into my bones from my damp skin. I laughed out loud to myself as I wondered how I ever ended up in such a place. A place of death, despair, and loneliness . Where the only people i see are trying to either eat me, or kill me for the shirt on my back. "Why are you here fredo" I muttered softly as the rain continued to pitter patter at the puddle by my feet. I was a good boy. Born to a mexican american mother and a Native american father in America made me tough. Kids made fun of me and called me "The Apache" from a young age, poked fun at my last name and my skin tone. The thing about getting bullied and called a savage as a joke growing up is that in turn makes you just that, a savage. I was angry and violent, fight after fight was leading me nowhere fast. Until I met her. The woman of my dreams, Oksana. She became my coworker and there was an instant connection, she had an accent and felt strange in the US since she had only been visiting her aunt for the summer. I had an accent and felt like a loner so it was a perfect friendship. We hung out almost everyday until the end of summer neared, when we realized we had fallen in love. I had never felt such a strong connection for anyone before, I couldn't lose the only the that makes me feel whole. So she asked me to come with her jokingly, but I responded with a serious "Yes". Next thing I know I'm living in a small farm house in bop (bor) with my love and her family, learning the land , the language and the people. It was a beautiful place with open fields with animals and butterflies fluttering about. When rumors of happenings in the north reached our town we couldn't believe it. Until we seen it for ourselves, and by that time it was too late. Death. Loss. Fear. Oksana and I took refuge in our home for as long as we could, then we had to leave and search for food . A tear rolled down my cheek as I reminisced on her. My love. We were being chased by the undead into the woods after searching an abandoned farmhouse, it was late, dark and cold. We were separated in the pitch black....there was nothing I could do, I was surrounded and fighting them and told her to run, she ran and I haven't seen her since. So I search and survive. Hoping to once again find the light at the end of my dark tunnel.
