Born in the town of Hana to a white American father and a beautiful Native Hawaiian mother, Maya grew up there until she turned 12. After her birthday, her family moved to California and stayed there, moving sporadically through the years, until she finally moved out of her parents home at the age of 23. Studying fashion design, Maya was a bright student and took her education seriously, working hard to get the best grades and became one of the top students in the fashion design department at her uni. After putting in so much effort, she and her parents agreed that she deserved some rest and a reward for the hard work.
A mere 8 days before Week One of the outbreak, Maya arrived to Russia on a vacation her parents paid for. She was intrigued by Russia and similar Slavic nations and their culture and history, and was thrilled when her family told her she would be able to travel there. She had even arranged a trip to visit Chernobyl. But, alas, it was never to come to pass. To her horror, she found herself trapped in Chernarus as the outbreak was happening during her travels through similar countries. It was supposed to be a round trip, and she was only meant to spend three or four days in Chernarus... Fate must have decided it was the perfect time for her to be there. She, however, felt like the unluckiest person in the world.
The timing of her trip couldn't have been worse.
Since then she has been foraging, scavenging and otherwise learning survival skills first hand in order to do just that: Survive. And barely being able to do so. Only by bouts of extremely good luck and ideal circumstances has she been able to survive this long, and still struggles each day to fend off the hordes and feed herself. This caused her to become severely malnourished, but thankfully she is bouncing back in the recent months as she takes up camps with other survivors between traveling. Where is she going? Nowhere... Anywhere... She just needs something to focus on in order to block out the Hell she lives in. Thus, Maya never remains in one area for too long; always looking for the next survivor camp. The next fishing hole or hunting stand. The next venture.
All of the friends Maya has made have been wedging their way into her heart, little by little. Maya would fight and die to protect each and every one of them.
