Just your average Joe, Daniel had normal happy childhood in the South of Sweden until tragic struck. Having to grow up with his grandparents in the country after his parents died in a car crash, the call of the wild became part of him. He would spend more time alone in the wilderness then around people. Something that coloured him as he become somewhat of a loner and sceptical to people generally.

As an adult, he tried to transition into a normal way of life after his youth and the death of his gran parents. He had a nice life in the suburbs, a good job as a mechanical engineer and a typical family (Station wagon, 2.5 kids and a dog). Everything that fits an A4 life. Daniel however, always felt as if something was “off”, that he has meant to be alone, not meant to be happy. Even the love of his family could not shake this feeling.

Life seemed to be passing along until the pandemic hit. Taking the pragmatic Scandinavian approach, he moved is family to the family cabin in rural Skåne, hoping to ride out the storm. That would not happen. Between the infected ever-growing numbers and the even more unpredictable and desperate people in this new world, life was never going to be easy.

After the tragic loss of his family during the outbreak, it seems death follows him, and after losing his homestead to the infected in Southern Sweden, he was alone. On the verge of despair, Daniel moved through the wilderness. Feeling his sanity about to give out and his mind starting play tricks on him, he moved in a daydream state. The ever present voice in his head say he is cursed, bringing only misery to those around him

Daniel move almost as an infected, no goal or reason, until he met a fellow traveller. The Norwegian traveller managed to bring Daniel back from the brink, talking of the saving grace of the North, Nyheim. A place supposedly safe. After parting ways on friendly terms for once, the traveller said his goodbyes. Knowing summer was drawing to an end, and the bitter winter coming Daniel decided to move North and across the border towards Nyheim to start over as he in what was supposed to be a place of sanctuary. Hoping to find a new future he sets out to a fresh start. 

Now living of the land, he hopes to find a community he can help build into something that resembles more of a normal life, rather than scratching out a merger existence.

An avid hunter from his early youth and having served as a conscript in the Swedish armed forces on international deployment, Daniel has the skills needed to survive the harsh North, as he makes his new home in Nyheim.

However, his scars from the past surface occasionally when the past catches up to him, at times making him irrational and prone to fits of violence.

Moving into Nyheim has brought a new set of challenges as he tries to make heads or tails of the situation. Who to trust and who not to trust? Past experience tells him neither as everyone has their own agenda.
