Born into a wealthy family in Berlin, Sten Graslok had always had a safe and planned life ahead of him. He was the heir of a major investment company, as his father was the founder and CEO of one. Due to Sten's parents being as rich as they were, they showered him with attention, but not necessarily the kind a child often required. His parents made sure he was top in class at the expensive private schools he was sent to, and made sure he won every soccer and handball competitions. They hired a famous piano teacher that drilled him in all things classically musical. They did not, however, concern themselves with his own pride in his grades, his handboll trophies or his enjoyment of the piano or whether or not he had any real friends in his fancy schools. As Sten grew up into adolescence he started realising a world in which his every move wasn't governed by his strict parents. Eventually he had developed a truly rebellious mind, and set out to do whatever his parents wouldn't want of him. He found that joining the military would certainly bring about the disappointment from his parents that he craved, as he would then abandon his claim to his father’s company. He joined the military and all things went as planned, but he was surprised to feel that he enjoyed his time in the german military, and kept rising in the ranks. He was noticed by his superiors as a diligent and very competent soldier. His rise through the ranks of the Bundeswehr was impressive and became and gained the “Hauptmann” rank, or Captain rank. In the beginning of 2017 he was sent to a NATO base in Chernarus, a place he certainly did not want to be in. The poor and seemingly barbaric nature of the place, in his eyes at least, did not please him as he begrudgingly took the order. He was stationed in a Chernarusian town, ordered to train a few local soldiers in military aspects of riot-management and such things. As communications in the country started going down and eventually not being able to contact his home base, Sten started feeling true fear in this unknown land. Rumor started spreading throughout the small base of the “walking dead” or the “infected”, and Sten was losing grip of men as they lost their morale. Fearing fall of the major cities and towns would spread to the fall of his own place he grew anxious and the hours and days passed. While Sten had gone through rigorous military training and was taught to expect the worst, this situation started to seem as something more than worse. Sten did was any normal person would do, although maybe not what military personnel should do, he panicked. He took an UAZ and abandoned his stationed men on the base as he drove west away from Chernarus. Driving on the southern highway he noticed a person on the road. Intending to offer a ride away he began noticing something strange about the person. As he was noticing the terrifying nature of the person, he tensed up, and did not notice group of infected approaching his vehicle from his right side. The infected slammed against the side of the car and Sten panicked steered to the left and drove his vehicle into the ocean. From here he left the vehicle and panic-swam away south. His body would not bring him very far, though, as his tense body and frightened mind began to wear him down and he would’ve drowned if he did not realise that his only way to survive would be to swim back. He passed out from his exhaustion when he reached the shore.
