Growing up in a small town in rural Oklahoma, Dakota was taught to work hard and be able to fend for yourself if need be. Learning to hunt and fish at a young age he really gravitated towards these skills and worked to refine them as much as possible. On top of a good work ethic and love for the outdoors, he was a good athlete, playing football and Wrestling. After his schooling he joined the United States Marine Corps where he did a deployment in Afghanistan in 2012. After his time in the Corps he looked for and found employment with private military company named "Blackfin Solutions". Having worked for the company for a few years he had made a name for himself and held a position on one of the best squads the company had. When the outbreak came to the US the company worked in several states to secure areas and evacuate individuals. Eventually as the country was slowly being overtaken by the infection the company decided to establish a base on the border of Oklahoma and Kansas. being centralized and away from major cities allowed them to create a sort of safe zone. From that zone they were able to establish communication with other groups scattered across the area and again find employment in the protection of these groups. One such group was made up of several politicians and scientists from some major universities around the country. They believed they were getting closer to sequencing the infection and possibly finding how to stop it. There was only one problem, they needed samples from the origin of the outbreak. This is where Dakota comes in. Him and his squad are tasked with traveling all the way to Chernarus and establishing a basecamp. From there they are supposed to collect samples and return them to their employers. But while on the last leg of their journey to the country they needed to cross the Green Sea and make landfall. There was a large storm that evening and their boat shipwrecked on rocks several hundred meters from shore. The force of the impact so violent that Dakota was thrown from the boat into the water and fought for his life in the waves of the storm. Eventually he was able to make landfall on a beach. Exhausted and abused by the storm he fell unconscious on the beach. Some time later he awakes to the sound of waves splashing the beach. His cloths no longer soaked but still damp. He is disoriented and incredibly thirsty. Looking up and down the beach, there is no sign of his fellow squad members or their gear. Was he the only one to make it to shore? Where exactly is he? Getting to his feet and working to regain his bearing, Dakota sets out to find his squad members and the supplies they brought with them.
