Richard (Rick) Radchenko, is a second generation American and bachelor in his early 30s. Rick is an IT Consultant/contractor with a specialization in computer systems used aboard large cargo ships. Both his parents died in car accident when he was in his early 20s. Rick is an avid outdoorsman, which most likly stemmed from his youth years as a boy scout. Before the outbreak, Rick usually would spend weeks hiking/camping around the 100 acres of woods/mountains near his home in Pennsylvania. Rick found himself stranded in Chenarus after the cargo ship he was working on was forced onto Chenarussian coast by a massive storm in late July 2017. Once off the ship, Rick quickly headed inland to avoid all the crowds and commotion of the coastal cities. An hour later, Rick found himself drinking at a pub, a few kilometers inland, where he befriended an elderly woodsmen over debates of the best method to cook a venison steak. The woodsmen told stories of the infection and warned Rick about the dangers of staying near populated areas Chenarus. Not wanting any illfortune to befall his new friend, the woodsmen invited Rick to stay with him in his Cabin deep in the woods, as long as he helped with the upkeep of the cabin and cooking. A few days later after the storm had subsided, Rick awoke to a note on the coffee table from the woodsmen. "Rick, the wood stove needs repaired and I am heading into town to get some concrete mix to patch it up. Its a long hike but I will be back later this evening. -Bill". The woodsman never returned later that night, like he had mentioned he would. Rick, began to worry but wasnt familiar enough with the area to go looking for him at night. The following day, Rick used his hunting and tracking abilities to follow the path he believed Bill had traveled. Rick eventually came to a tree that had fallen over a newly formed stream (most likly created from the storm that just recently hit). Underneath the tree, Rick saw something that looked like Bill the Woodsmens Navy Boonie hat. Rick quickly realized that it was his new friend stuck under the tree and ran closer to help. When Rick got closer he saw his friend's pale lifeless face. Bill was dead. Rick buried Bill's body and headed back to the cabin to think of what his next steps would be. Rick decided to stay at the cabin as long as he could as it was in a remote place away from the infected. Months passed and Rick was doing farely well living off the land. That was until one night when Rick left the wood stove on to stay warm on a particularly cold night. The faulty wood stove caused an inferno that burned Rick's cabin to the ground. Luckily he woke up in time to get out safely but his cabin and most of his belongings were destroyed. Rick now finds himself forced to head out into the unknown in search of food, water, shelter, and safety... This is where his story continues.
