Spoiler

A perfect little family… two wonderful daughters with loving and caring parents. That was the picture people and neighbors had of us. But reality was different. At least for me and my younger sister. We both grew up in Switzerland, although our roots were actually somewhere in England I believe. I never really understood, why my parents wanted to come to this place… but well, it doesn’t really matter. More important was the fact, that we were all just playing the perfect little family. To be exactly, our parents tried their best to keep that imagine up of us. My father though ewas never the one who felt a lot of love for his daughters. Instead, he didn’t miss a single chance to tell us, how we were ruining his life and that he never wanted to have children in the first place. Well… like it was out fault, that he wasn’t capable of using a condom. I doubt that any of us asked to be born like this, but it couldn’t be changed anymore now.

The older we both got, the more he was just sitting at home with a bottle of wine or beer in his hands, getting more often drunk and unpredictable. It slowly started to become our daily routine… getting up, making breakfast for us, getting to school and back home in the evening to listen to his screams and yells about how stupid we were and that he was disgusted about us. Words, which slowly started to loose theit impact on me. I accepted quite quickly, that we didn’t have a family as it should be. I knew that I just needed to endure this time, till I was old enough to leave. But my sister wasn’t able to just shaje it off. While I stopped caring when I was around eight years old, I often heard her cry in her room, even when she was already a teenager. I didn’t blame her… I just felt sorry, that I was powerless to make it easier or better for her. Most of the time, I just tried to direct my father to yell at me instead of Lucy.

But things changed one day, when I did a terrible mistake. Until I was 16 years old, I never talked back to my father. Not once. I just endured and didn’t really listen to his words or his insults, till it started to get worse. He never slapped us or anything, till one evening, where he suddenly decided it would be funny to press a cigarette against the skin of my shoulder. He was laughing, while I was screaming in pain and shock. I really didn’t think much about my father, but I never imagined that he could be capable of something like this… or the things that happened after I opened my mouth one day. I yelled at him, calling him the worst of human kind and that he would never be allowed to visit me or my children, when I would have a real family in the future.

It was the first and last time I talked back to him… I’m not going much into details… let’s just say, that it was useless. Afterwards, I just tried to concentrate on school and my sister, to make sure she wouldn’t need to handle the same stuff as me. Years passed and my freetime was compressed to zero. Work and study consumed most of my time, since I had to work on my own for the money I needed tob e able to study in the first place. My father didn’t pay for it… of course not. And my mother just always nodded to everything he said, like most of the people he knew. Like they were afraid of him… and so I didn’t bother to fight either. I just accepted the situation and tried to make the best out of it.

It was the day of a very important exam, when everything changed one more time… what I have done, couldn’t be changed… and I wasn’t sure how my sister is thinking about me now. But sadly I didn’t have much time to think about it. Without wasting any more time, I just gathered a bare minimum of supplies and clothes, before I ran off to the airport. I had to leave… although I felt terrible for leaving my sister behind like this. I could only hope, that she would understand why one day… I didn’t pay much of attention to where the flight was taking me. I just chose one which was leaving immediately and had some empty seats left… taking me then to an airport in Chernarus.

Spoiler

When the place finally landed, I was quite lost. I didn’t really have a real idea, where I actually was, since the name Chernarus or South Zagoria didn’t ring a bell. So I was standing for several hours by the airport, trying to find my way around. I had some difficulties to read the signs and as well to communicate with the local people first. Actually I can’t really remember exactly anymore, how things worked out so I got a place to stay and some sort of work to do.

I guess everything started when I saw that old lady having some troubles to carry the bags of supplies she just bought in a supermarket and decided to ask if she needed any help. One thing lead to another and after explaining briefly why I was in this country, she offered me to help then as well. So I got a small cottage in a village called Tulga, right next to the old woman’s house, since it wasn’t used by anyone. The rent wasn’t really expernsive and with her help, I managed to get just a few jobs which didn’t really require any sort of study. It was a quite peaceful life actually, although of course this country had it’s problems just like any other country had. Yet… it felt more like home than any other place I have been so far. The only thing missing really, was my sister… but back then I hoped that I could somehow contact her and get her to move over here as well…

I actually believed, that nothing unexpected would happen anymore… as you can guess, I was terribly wrong about that. When the infection hit, I was spending the afternoon with the old woman, not quite realizing at first what was actually happening. I mean, we of course heard stories and the news, yet none of us really believed that shit could go down like this. As one of our neighbors got attacked by an infected, we quickly made our way down into the basement of her house with a few other people, closing the door and hoping whatever attacked out there, wouldn’t get inside.

The first months, we were hiding in the basement, living of the supplies which she had been storing down there since already quite some time. Like she had sensed that something like this would happen. But as our storage started to fade, we knew we had to get back on the surface and look what was going on. The first move outside went quite well… no one got injured or anything… but the second one was a disaster. We didn’t notice the horde of infected close by, which lead almost all of us to die. Only me and Eliska, the old woman, actually made it. But she got injured… she broke her leg as we sprinted down back into the basement. Well… with over 80 years of age, no wonder she wasn’t as agile anymore.

From that day on, I started to go outside along, getting supplies for both of us. That actually worked for a few more weeks… but then one day, I came back to the basement and Eliska was gone. I couldn’t find any trace of her at first… till I noticed a little note next to the last can of food. Reading it broke my heart. To not slow me down or force me to stay here, she went outside on her own… she wanted to help… and if she wouldn’t make it, I shouldn’t be sad, but instead take this chance to move forward. I found her a few days later as one of the infected, though she was crawling on the floor because of her injured leg. I put her out of her misery…

Afterwards, I roamed around alone. Seeing that the world had changed quite drastically, I wasn’t so sure who I could trust. Eventually though, I met a group of people, which I started to open up to. At least enough to be part oft hem at the beginning. Time passed and we just tried to survive. Here and there we got ourselves in trouble… here and there we just managed to have some days of peace. Till we did a terrible mistake.

A group of people started to follow us. Bandits… well or something like that at least. A few times they surprised us and took all our supplies, threatening us and that kind of shit. There wasn’t much we could do. None of us was good at fighting and risking our lifes for it… no. But then, a few weeks later, we suddenly stumbled over their leader. He seemed tob e injured… I guess by an infected, though I actually couldn’t care less. My plan had been to use him to finally get rid of the others, making sure somehow they wouldn’t follow us anymore. But then… Bill decided to go another way. Instead of waiting so we could negotiate with his people, he shot him. A bullet straight into his brain.

It didn’t take long for the other’s of his group to figure out what happened… we ran… tried to hide and hoped they would never find us. We moved then to a castle, deciding to stay there for the night… it was my shift to keep an eye on our surroundings… and I failed. Since quite some time I was unable to really get proper sleep. And in that situation… it caused the death of everyone else. I was experiencing a micro sleep as they suddenly showed up at the castle, so I didn’t see them coming… when I finally did, it was already too late…

Spoiler

We were unable to defend ourselves. In that moment I got reminded once again how cruel mankind actually could be. They started to torture us… beating us… making sure we would never forget this. Hours in which they played some strange mind games with us, till in the end none of us really had any strength left anymore to really fight. Till that moment, I thought though they would actually keep us alive… but I was once again wrong. I won’t go much into details… but they killed everyone right in front of my eyes, one after another… and then it was my turn.

But instead of just ending my life with another bullet, they forced me to just face the wall of the castle. I first didn’t realize what they were planning to do, till the first strike of an improvised whip hit my back, ripping my skin open. Then the second strike followed, letting me scream in shock and pain, almost causing me to drop down on my knees… and then the third and last one hit my back. I didn’t want to know how my back looked after it… when I was laying there on the ground, without any strength left anymore, I just waited for them to end it… but the last bullet never followed.

Instead of just ending my life, they decided to leave me there, believing that I would die either way. And honestly, I thought so too… but things turned out differently. I can’t really remember much of it anymore, but I know that Husky was the one who found me… and the one who stopped the bleeding on my back. A few times I lost my consciousness… and wasn’t much of a help I guess. But Husky somehow managed to get me to work with her… to tell her how she needed to treat the wound on my back after it got infected, although… I didn’t know for what back then. My will of life was shattered into pieces and I guess I wouldn’t have tried much longer to stay alive, if Husky wouldn’t have been there to just push me back on the path.

Nevertheless… I decided to stay on my own for most of the time as soon as I was able to move properly again. We met up from time to time to exchange informations and stuff like that, but we didn’t travel together for longer than just a few days. It worked out pretty good that way… for quite some time. But I guess it would be lied to say, that  I was really living back then. I was alive of course… but it was not more than just surviving. I moved from day to day, watched a few people from afar, but never really approached them. That went on for quite a few months…

kRUsKfh.png

6IOQcGy.png

Spoiler

I survived mostly on my own the next few months that passed. But my general state couldn’t be considered as being really alive. I didn’t follow any goals, I just moved from day to day and watched people from a safe distance. I surely would have had the chance to actually talk to a few of them, yet I never felt the need of it. Instead, I always made sure they wouldn’t notice me. Husky was the only human being I saw from time to time. Though even that stopped at some point. I don’t really know what exactly happened… but after I didn’t hear anything from her anymore and couldn’t find out where she was… I assumed she was dead. But then one day everything changed once again.

I was just heading towards Severograd after I observed it for quite a while, since I needed some more supplies. I was running low on food and I haven’t seen any animals around for days. So I made my move, slowly approached the city over a field and didn’t really notice that someone was following me. When I finally realized it, I turned around quickly, looking at the young girl standing there. By the first look, she couldn’t be older than a teenager, even though she was actually already as tall as I was. My first thought? This was definitely some sort of trap. I was actually waiting for other people to surround us, who had sent her to distract me. But nothing happened.

I waited quite some time and talked with her. She told me that she was lost and didn’t know where to go, since her family had left her quite some time ago and didn’t come back yet. She had followed me, because she believed I knew my way around, since I was so confidently approaching the city. If she just knew… I was everything else than confident. Nevertheless, I told her she could come along for now… why… ? Well, honestly I’m not so sure myself. But looking at her and hearing her talk, just reminded me very much of my sister Lucy. I guess that was the small detail which made me offer her to travel with me later on as well.

As I noticed that she really had spoken the truth and wasn’t part of any sort of ambush, I couldn’t just leave her on her own.

From that moment on, Amy and me were a duo. It was actually nice to have someone to regularly talk to, even though I might gave her a hard time, since I wasn’t much of a talker. When we met people, she was doing most of the chatting, so I was able to just observe the situation and make sure we were not getting into trouble. It worked… pretty well.

We got to know a few people and the more time I was spending with other people around us… I finally started to feel alive again. Of course I was still scared… I feared that everything could end the same way as it did with my old friends… yet Amy showed me, that I couldn’t just stay away from people forever. And she was right. Thanks to her, I got to know a lot of other people I learned to rely on. Not in a way, where I was completely depentent on them of course, but in a way in which I actually enjoyed the knowledge of having some friends around again to help each other out.

Spoiler

A lot has happened to actually be at this point now. I got myself more involved again… not with everyone of course, but I do have a few people I truly care about. Making sure nothing would happen to them was a new goal I could follow… and later on, I even learned what it actually means to love someone… and be loved. Maybe my story wasn’t over yet. Maybe this apocalyptic world was not the worst thing that happened to me. Cause in some sort of way, it was a new beginning as well.

Yes… this was not the end…

Spoiler

HcJ9aiI.png

The bond Emily shares with Jona is in many ways very special and unique for her. The first time she met him in Gorka, she never would have guessed that their stories would get connected in the way they are now. He’s right now what could be considered her personal sancturay, the one who gives her a feeling of safety and acceptance, which she rarely experienced by anyone else. Jona knows more about the wicked things inside of Emily’s heart than anyone else and yet didn’t run from her, which amazes her every day again.

She cares a lot about him, trying as well to show him that sort of affection she feels towards him, even though sometimes it’s hard for her since she never got the chance to experience something like this before. Even before the forest became their witness, so actually since they got to know each other more, Emily starts to feel more and more alive, enjoying her days instead of just surviving. Not long ago, after Emily had thought about it for quite some time, she finally dared to ask Jona if he would allow her to take over his lastname.

So from now on she dropped her original lastname Moore, which has also a very emotional aspect for her, to let the horror of her past finally get to an end.

Amy is like a little sister to Emily since the day she met her outside of Severograd. Actually this young girl is the reason, why Emily found her way back to life again instead of just living day by day and just surviving without any real goal in sight. Over the time, the bond between them grew stronger and Emily is actually seeing her as part ofher family.

Amy seems to have a lot of similarities to Emily's actual younger sister, which might as well be the reason, why Emily got so quickly attached to her. Even though she doesn't want to order Amy around, here and there she still gets a bit overprotective about her, especially when it comes to unknown people. Right now, Amy is safe spending her time in a cabin, using most of her time with reading.

Husky wzrtx8L.pngLaska Vrubel wzrtx8L.png@Franny

Spoiler

Fc1urBV.png

Of course Husky is not her real name. Nevertheless, Emily started to just call her that because of her two different eye colors. They met right after the slaughter of Emily's old friends, while the ones who did it, left her there in Devil's Castle to die from her wounds. Since Emily already suffered quite the blood loss, she was too weak to even really do anything. Husky helped her out, although Emily still wonders in the first place, why she did so. Husky was even more the loner than Emily was after this experience. Both of them became friends though, but not the typical type of it. They could rely on each other, but they barely walked around together for longer than necessary.

Nevertheless, Husky saved Emily's life. Today Emily is thankful for that and just got to know after the two got separated, that she is still alive. Finally having contact again, Emily is glad that not only she herself, but Husky has changed too. Like before, they can still rely on each other. Husky was as well the one who gave her the nickname Hummingbird.

Spoiler

dDgYXLy.png

Khandra is a case for herself. Emily does care about her after all the time they met and spent together, especially even more, since Amy seemed to have a really strong bond with her. Even though they see each other not that often, Emily is often worried about her, knowing that Khandra though can take care of herself, yet she seems often too trustful and naive in certain things. Not knowing though how she could actually make sure that Khandra is safe, she just tries her best to not hang out the protective older sister, which might scare Khandra away.

Recently, Emily is even more worried, knowing that Khandra voluntary takes the drug "Comfort" to flee from her feelings and emotions, though right now she seems to go through a withdrawl.

While Alex was first more or less part of the little group Emily has been travelling with, right now it’s more like meeting him together with Rob here and there by accident. Emily doesn’t know that much about both of them, yet she considers them as good friends. Most of the time, the two of them keep away from any sort of trouble, just like Emily does. Maybe that is the reason, why they often run into each other, since they often choose the same locations to hang around.

Spoiler

Even though Emily does not know them that good, she has a good impression about them. She believes, that both of them are just trying to survive, just like she tries together with Jona. They keep each other informed about what is going on currently, sharing some sort of network about important information, which of couse helps all the parties involved to keep track of the events going on.

Recently they spent a bit more time together, in which Emily was just able to fool around with them a little and get more comfortable around the two of them. Actually she considers them as close friends by now, guessing that if she needed help, she could count on both of them. Actually she would like to spend some more time with them, yet she doesn't really dare to speak openly about it, fearing that she might just be a burden or annoying.

Yet she is already considering to get a whole pocket of mushrooms for the truffle kitten Ellie.

The tattoo has quite an emotional meaning for Emily. She made it when she got 18 years old, after she discussed with her sister, that they would both get the same tattoo to always be a part of each other.Lucy though had to wait as well till she got 18, till she was able to get it herself. It's actually the same motive, except mirror-inverted.

Since the day, her tattoo got sort of destroyed by a improived whip, Emily hasn't looked at her back anymore. She only knows from people telling her so far, how it looks like and where exactly the scar is located. At first, she was almost sure it would be some sort of meaning, like her and her sister being apart and cut off from each other, but with time and patience she started now to accept, that the scars itself were not ruining the tattoo.
