Freya Hjelmstad's family is from Copenhagen, Denmark, they moved to America when Freya was an infant. She was never taught to speak Danish but had a pretty normal childhood. Decided she wanted to become a doctor after she was in a car accident and was unable to save her friend because she didn't have the medical knowledge to help her. She later attended Harvard University and received a masters. Next few years she flew around the world and country to assist in research in illnesses and disaster relief. Spent a long time in countries in Africa giving medical aid and working with other organizations to help the people there. While in the UK she received word of a growing number of illness cases in Chernarus and decided to go and help in any way possible. Once there the outbreak happened and things went to shit. She spent weeks alone in the woods, surviving on hunting and only walking around during the day. One day walking hunting small group of people approah her saying they are from the UN. After getting to know her they offered her a place in the organization because she is a licenced doctor. She is now living at their base and is the go to person for medical help.
