I’m Private First Class Maximus Varus, don’t mind the name, my dad was a fanatic for the Romans. I’m a reservist in the US Army. I deployed once to Afghanistan with the 101st airborne division. Saw some action then went back home, attended college for a little bit. I always wanted to go abroad and not shoot anyone and I thought that’s what this deployment to Chernarus was gonna be until I found out my unit was assisting NATO operations.
I’m not big on watching CNN and stuff back home so, I hadn’t heard a thing about Chernarus until I got there, then all the news broadcast and articles and all those reporters and journalists, they kept playing on the TVs at our base. We had no idea what we were doing, just listening to the brass, hearing the constant bombardment, seeing torn up civilians get brought into medbay and the hospitals. Everything was going into chaos and I was in the middle of it.
Me and my squad were sent out to assist a supply convoy one day. They had sent and distress signal and we were urged to get there immediately, but by the time we got there, we might as well been in a horror movie. Our fellow soldiers, NATO guys, UN people, they were all massacred.
Radioing into base, we found out people were leaving, the brass, whole units were bugging out, but not us, we were stuck out there and we had to find shelter less those things find us first. We had bunkered down in a police station, set up defenses and called for an evac that never came.
