Background
Charles 'Cooter' Johnson grew up in the backwoods of Texas. Life was hard for him and his six younger siblings. Cooter's drunken father, thankfully, just up and left one day to never return and for his mother, she never wanted the life Charles' father left her with. At a young age, Cooter became his sibling's caretaker; getting them ready for school, cooking for them, and even taking a blow or two for them when his mother wanted to unfairly beat them. Unfortunately for his siblings, when he turned 18, he ran. The military was his first choice. Free college and a good job with no experience? Cooter signed up before the recruiter went over the paperwork with him. After boot camp, Cooter became a medic, working on the wounded overseas, and fortunately for him, he was a natural. Between deployments, Cooter completed a bachelor's in Nursing and then graduated from NYU medical school. On a vacation to Norway, he met his beautiful wife, Eva. They married in the Fall of 2018. At this time, Cooter was between hospitals and becoming a citizen of Norway, though it did seem to be taking forever. To relieve the couple's stress, they traveled to Nyheim for vacation. Though the beautiful scenery and the wildlife were the highlights of their stay, what happened the many days after September 14th, wasn't. The couple stayed put in their hotel room, rationing out what little food stock they had, but after two weeks, the stomach aches began to take a toll. The first run for supplies was a shock, seeing the sick shamble around, attacking at will. After many months of surviving, Eva and Cooter began to get cocky, taking shortcuts and risks, they shouldn't have. One day, while scavenging at the local laundromat, Eva, confident nothing would happen, found herself at the hand of a horde. Before Cooter could even react, it was too late. His lovely wife was gone. Thinking on his feet, he took the shot to save her, then ran, saving himself. For days Cooter hid away, contemplating what to do next. He was alone and afraid; a widower with a broken heart.
