Mathias was born into to what most people prior to the outbreak would summarize as the "average" family, the treatment he and his sister received growing up however was different compared to any other family.
Before the outbreak had erupted, he and his sister Laila had already begun to prepare for the worst, with a large mound of ill-modern weaponry and supplies, venturing out into the wastes. Mathias, whilst being the young brother for Laila, nearly all throughout his life had always kept his mind on the right track. He spoke only when he needed, ensuring people would listen to him if the time would ever desire it, as well as protecting those he cared and loved for such as his sister before and after the events of the outbreak. He was always a humble, quiet, and respectable individual - and there was more to him beneath the surface if you were able to cross into his "good" side.
"People you love and care for - always cross paths with yourself in your life once again, for some it may be just be for one short time, and for others they might stick by you for the rest of your life. She's smart, and knows how to live off the land along with the guidance we both taught each-other prior to being separated."
It's been months, perhaps more than a year since he has last seen her, wandering the wastes and open fields of Chernarus as a whole passing by traders and the occasional lone survivor if they've encountered or heard of her. He feels resentful for the sheer fact he failed to protect her after the events of what led up to the seperation, the internal mental balance within' himself slowly breaking and fading away piece by piece as the days went on. With nothing left to lose presently, he spends every ounce of resource and information to find what he's lost - no matter the cost of whom he hurts, befriends, and betrays to get any closer to retrieve what he once held close to him - his only family.
