Natalia court a lucky streak when the outbreak happened. She had accumulated weeks of holiday that she’d not taken and her boss had to literally force her to book a holiday – thankfully for her, this meant that she was out hiking in the hills of Chernarus enjoying the fresh country air and time away from social media and her pager/phone, when the infected outbreak happened. Had she been at work, she would almost undoubtedly be dead or infected.
It didn’t take long for her to start to realise something was very wrong, the sudden heighten activity of the military and just this gut feeling something was very wrong, she came down out of the hill to get in contact once again with the outside world to discover it was all going to hell. She didn’t panic and followed the advice given on the emergency broadcast for her area – finding herself with a many other civi’s under the protection of the military, they soon became aware of her medical background and ‘deputised’ her to assist them.
This how she managed to survive the camp being overrun as the squad she was assigned to broke orders and ran when things clearly went bad and the camp began to be overrun by infected. Her and a handful of soldiers she was with managed to find safety, the commanding NCO of the group, Dmitri, having the idea to commandeer a boat and go out on to the sea to avoid the infected and to keep safe. Making raid as and when needed for supplies.
She joined them not that she really had a choice she could not survive alone, and she dared not anger them, her a lone woman with a half dozen hot-blooded alpha males. They executed the plan and managed to secure a boat and find safety on the water.
This is when the infighting and despair started to hit the soldiers hard, with nothing much to do to keep their mind occupied the lamented at the people that had lost, trapped on a boat and with only one woman things started to get ugly and very worrying for Natalia.
Things escalated when the Dmitri was mutinied against while refusing his men to be allowed to ‘bed’ her. During the fight, she managed to flee overboard into the sea… knowing he was done for and fearing for Natalia’s safety even as she swam ashore – the Dmitri knew they would go after her, he blew himself, them and the boat aflame with his last grenade…
She came ashore wet cold hungry and beginning to dehydrate knowing she needed to find some group or help soon as she knew she could not survive alone…
