Larry had a decent life his parents were happy and had decent paying jobs. As a family they would go off to place such as Wales or the highlands in Scotland to go hiking. His Dad was working at Rolls Royce making parts for plane engines and his mum was a police office. His mum died when he was 12, she was on duty and got a call to a mugging when she got there stabbed multiple times and died before the ambulance arrived. This event really had an impact on his dad and he went downhill from there he resorted to alcohol.
After education Larry got a job at BBC news and became a reporter for war zones. While he was in Afghanistan he was walking with a patrol and a British soldier stepped on an IED sending the soldier in the air and shrapnel into Larry's leg. When he got sent home he decided to write a book about what actually happens in war zones.
Then on the news was the outbreak of the disease this was a golden opportunity to see how the military would react and the BBC needed a reporter to go in and see what was happening. He was sent in with the military and his camera crew, they didn't make it.
