Aleks's father owned a small coal and power company that operated out of Moscow, Russia. When the Chernarussian civil war ended, his father saw an opportunity. Shortly after the end of the war in 2009, Aleks's father had bought out a few failing coal companies and moved his family to South Zagoria; Elektrozavodsk more specifically. Being 11 when he moved to Chernarus, Aleks was just starting grade 6 at school in Elektrozavodsk, where he was taught English, which is why he can speak the language fairly well. Growing up in Chernarus was different than his experiences in Russia, but similar enough for him to enjoy it, and grow up like a normal kid. On the weekends, Aleks would often drive up near the Black Mountains and camp with some of his friends, becoming quite accustomed to the countryside of South Zagoria. Come the first weeks of the outbreak, Aleks's family stayed in Elektrozavodsk despite most of the population fleeing the city, as Aleks's father was all too invested in his newly booming coal business in Chernarus. During the storm, Aleks was separated from him family, and he suddenly had a new problem on his hands; Survival.
