Background

Adrik Ivanov was born in Chernarus but grew up in the United Kingdom. His parents disliked the uncertainty of their homeland so decide to move when Adrik was born.

Adrik had quite a normal upbringing and when he was old enough he decide he wanted to travel all over. And those travels eventually lead him to Chernarus.

Things already seemed wrong when he arrived in Chernogorsk. People were rushing around, families shoved whatever belongings they could carry into their cars. Then the broadcasting systems screamed into life, shouting instructions to the panicking masses. A friendly stranger offered Adrik a ride out of town, which Adrik accepted without so much as a second thought. As they drove, the stranger told Adrik that he had already helped a few other people out of Chernogorsk and that they were held up in small woodland house, far from an civilisation.

It was quiet when Adrik stepped out of the car, he asked the stranger where the others were. The stranger, busy with something in the boot of his car, mumbled something and pointed towards an entrance to an underground storage. Adrik approached the entrance slowly, the wooden doors to the storage were old, some of it rotting away. As Adrik placed his hand on the door, he thought he could hear something, it was muffled but it sounded like crying. But in that moment something cold touched the back of Adrik's head. The friendly stranger told Adrik to put his hands behind his back and when he did sharp handcuffs snapped around his wrists. When the stranger opened the door to the underground storage the first thing to hit him was the smell. It was the smell of death. Adrik wanted to run, to cry out for help but he knew it was pointless. They were out in the middle of nowhere, far from any civilisation.

Adrik couldn't tell you how long he was in that hole. Months, years? It's hard to tell when you are submerged in darkness. That's all his life was in that hole, darkness, pain, screams, and the smell. The endless smell of death.

Adrik doesn't even remember when he escaped, it's just flashes. That's all his life is now, flashes between madness.
