My name is Garrett Winston, I was a biologist from Texas working on the effects of human activity on the environment of endangered species in Asia. I obtained the opportunity from the University of Cambridge (The establishment where I worked) to go to China to follow a species of turtle that is on the verge of extinction due to common consumption of the animal in Chinese establishments at the end of June of 2017, anxious I packed my bags with haste and paid for my series of flights to get there. My flights were to take me from England, making a pitstop in Chernarus, and ending up in western China from which I would foot it from there. My flight was scheduled to fly out on July the 6th, scheduled to land in Chernarus on the 7th. With all I have heard in the news I was slightly concerned about traveling to Chernarus, with the conflict with Russia and all, but I was flying into Miroslovl, so I was not that concerned considering the distance of the conflict. Once landing in Miroslovl International Airport, everything seemed to be going great, I was so excited to make my way to China! Unfortunately, more than I could have imagined, my flight was delayed due to some "difficulties" so I settled in till the afternoon. Not knowing much about this city, or the country for that matter, I stuck to myself. What started as what I thought was a few our delay turned into days, and then it happened. Everyone was asked to enter the plane in which they had originated, I had no idea why, so I went to an airport official to see what was going on and to show documentation stating that I needed to be on the next flight to China by authority of UC. I was harshly rejected and told to go back where I came and that this was a state of emergency. Confused but compliant I did as he asked, I have been known to have a temper but for the greater good I maintained my self control. On my way back to my previous terminal I caught a glimpse of a TV where a news feed was going, something about infected and hostile behavior. I watched for a short time until the individual doing the report was violently attacked and killed on camera by what looked a very sick individual. With her bloodcurdling screams it was apparent by the cameras reaction that it attracted more, and the camera was dropped. I watched in horror as the cameraman was chased and killed by these infected people. Terrified I tried to escape, but I had taken to long, there were no plains in the terminals and no way for me to leave this country. Eventually I calmed myself and began to start making plans on what I was going to do. I knew nothing of this country but I knew if I could make my way to the border then maybe I could escape this place. So I went outside and called a cab which I directed to take me to the nearest border. The driver complied with no objections and we took off. Due to traffic from evacuation and mayhem it took over a week to make it to the border of Russia, which I figured would be a safe bet considering it was the quickest way out, but to my surprise there was a barricade where no one could pass. The driver stopped at a nearby gas station to fill up as I tried to figure out what to do next, as I was sitting there, out of no where a horde of infected made their way out of the nearby trees and rushed the driver, killing him. Panicking I jumped into the driver seat and took off as fast as I could. With tears in my eyes I continued to drive away from the barrier headed east, hoping to find some sort of ship to get me out of here. I did not make it far, however, considering the car did not get filled up. With no more options I got out of the car and began to walk, continuing east to what I was told to be South Zagoria, hoping to use my skills from the outdoors of my childhood to make my way and to survive what seemed to be the end.
