Gordon Downie, Born in Amherstview, Ontario, Canada on February 6th, 1984. Raised in Kingston, Ontario, Along with his brothers David and Neil, and sisters Samantha and Courtney. They were sons and daughters of Nancy and Dale Downie who owned one of the largest largest farms in their town, and was one of the main food sources for the town of Amherstview. Gordon and his siblings worked their butts off during the summer season, raising cattle, chickens, and other farm animals. The siblings had very little time for friends and social activities as the family was heavily relied on by the people of Amherstview, The community had very much respect for the Downies and some would say they could even trust their lives in the hands of the family. Gordon, Being the youngest of the litter, always had a difficult time adapting to the work & chores that were given to him by his mother and father as he was deemed the weakest of the bunch. However, although he was the youngest, weakest, and tiniest of the bunch. His family still supported and loved him dearly, No matter what, the bond between this family was unbreakable. As the years went by, Gordon managed to get an education and continue working for his parents as they were very wealthy, had a massive property, and wouldn't trust anyone but their own children to carry the family torch. Unconditional love and support was spread throughout the family and each child was prepared to continue running their parents very successful farm and insure the survival of their hometown. The children who were now adults, believed they could fully handle themselves and could oversee the future of Amhersview, or so they thought.
The date was July 25th, 2017. It was a quiet evening, Gordon had just finished work for the day and was winding down in front of the television watching the news, specifically watching highlights of the previous nights hockey game, when immediately it was disrupted by an important news announcement. Gordon let out a sigh of disappointment, as he hadn't seen the previous game. "Attention this is a CTV news, global announcement" the TV projected. Gordon lost interest and almost turned the television off until he heard the message state "This is a global emergency, The NATO fleet stationed not far off the soviet - republic country of Chernarus has been struck by what can only be described as massive underwater nuclear device. Please seek shelter immediately and await further instruction." Gordon knew about the recent outbreak but thought nothing of it, This however was different. Gordon, was shocked and uncertain what to do. He paused in thought, and then said to himself "I have to warn my family". He then went outside onto the property and gathered his mother, father, and siblings. Brought them inside, and showed them the warning on the television. His father was a man of immediate action and told his children that all food, supplies, and anything deemed useful needed to be collected and brought together. "We will take shelter in the cellar for now" his father said. "It has no windows, and will be a safe place for us to ride this out. no matter what, stay calm, we have each other" his father claimed. As the days went by, Gordon and his family were joined by other families from Amhersville as they respected and trusted the Downies very much. The family welcomed everyone in with open arms, unknowingly assisting their own demise.
Word spread, that the outbreak that had thought to be contained was now spreading throughout the states, and was considered to be very contagious. Many people that had thought to be family friends, turned out to be cruel and selfish individuals. The people the Downies had taken as refugee, turned against them and stole many of their supplies throughout the nights of being with them. There was nothing left for the Family, the town of Amhersview had been abandoned within a couple days after word of the outbreak spreading. Gordon and his family had very little food and supplies left and they all knew they wouldn't survive if they stayed. However, they still had each other, and the bond between the family was unbreakable. Dale and Nancy told the children to take the remaining food and supplies they had left to the pier in town. There they would find boats they could use to get out of the country and seek a better home, far away from home. Dale and Nancy would stay at the farmstead and continue to survive for as long as they could, after all they were old and wouldn't make it very far. This was very emotional for Gordon and his siblings as they had never left their parents alone for no longer the a couple days. They swore they would come back with more food and supplies soon, and told their parents to slaughter the animals in order to survive. They said what they hoped to not be their final goodbyes and left with tears in their eyes as they took the family truck down the long driveway and into town. It was a quiet ride to the pier, none of the siblings said a word as they glanced upon the abandoned town that used to be lively and colorful. Towards the pier they found many gas powered boats with enough fuel and supplies for a long trip, they had no destination just an idea. Dave, one of Gordon's older brothers muttered "across the pond, towards the UK. That's where we will go, and then we will come back for mom and dad." No one said a word. As they took one final glance at their hometown of Amhersville, they had no idea what was in store for them.
