While the assignment itself was and still is classified to this day, the destabilization of the local government was paramount. The task ended in a critical failure at the onset of the outbreak with the majority of the interwoven special forces teams eliminated first by the CDF due to a leak within the group, then the infection itself as time progressed. James hid among the chaos, as did a few other surviving members of the task force.
In time, his orders changed. Communiques with the Central Intelligence Agency, while sporadic, still filtered in with small parts for him to play even as two years passed and the infection settled worldwide.
