My Name Is Jacob a 19 year-old student taken away from my studies by my mother, as she had growing fear of the unknown virus plastered over tv and radio shows. I woke up with a loud ringing in my ears, the last thing I remember was my mother putting the oxygen mask over my face. it started with the fasten seat belt sign. the green glow woke me from a sleep as my panicking mother grabbed her seatbelt and strapped herself in tight, she always was scared of flying. I tried to comfort her as the growing turbulence shook the plane slightly before a loud bang was heard from my right ear, I looked out over the sky. the engine on the left side was on fire and was the only light visible in the dark night sky. there was then a sudden shake and my head smacked against the side of the plane. I now feel alone. helpless, although I'm not alone. when I woke up from the rubble I unstrapped my unconscious mother and dragged her to safety, we sat on the sand, her head in my lap. as the adrenaline wore off my injuries put me in a deep sleep and when I awoke, she was gone. I'm still searching for her even though I know in the back of my mind, she is gone.
