Lance was a normal guy who worked as a insurance salesman in NYC. He knows very little about survival but that doesn't hold back his extreme will to live. He can be selfish at times due to his overwhelming fear of dying. on April 21 his life had seemingly been completely been ruined by one decision. The company that he worked for decided that they wanted to branch out to more exotic countries. While many of his co-workers went to pleasant places like Hawaii or Spain. Lance was chosen to go to Chernarus since he was the only fluent Chernarussian speaker that worked for the company. At the time of landing he quickly found out that Chernarus was not a safe place for anyone to be.
When the Outbreak started he was with a CDF platoon being protected. He was later drop off by the platoon to stay with a small farming family while they went to check on a call about a sick child in the nearest town. They never came back for him. The farmer that he lived with taught the basics of hunting, fishing, and how to use a gun. Eventually everyone that lived on the farm got infected except for him. He wanted answers as to why he was not effected by the virus so he set off on a search to find a doctor of some kind to help him. He ran into a small group of survivors who also seemed unaffected by the virus that has plagued everyone around them. They spent three days in a small barn discussing where they should go from there. One of the survivors was in Elektrozavodsk when the chaos ensued. he said he remembered seeing a helicopter land on the hospital with a group of five doctors come out of it. After hearing this lance decided that he needed to go to Elekto and see if the doctors could help understand this immunity that he and the survivors had. He asked the group if they could go with him but they all wanted to get away from any populated areas. So Lance made the decision to go alone with only a backpack with canned beans and a kitchen knife. The run there was relatively quite. He stopped twice along the way to sleep in abandoned houses. After two days of running he finally saw Elektro, or what was left of it. The once booming city was in ruins. Even after seeing that he still kept hope that the hospital was not overrun. he continued to walk to the hospital only to find that it was an empty shell that has been completely looted of all the medical supplies. He was devastated at the fact that he didn't know where to go from there. While he sat in an empty room inside the hospital he heard a voice come from downstairs. He assumed they were friendly and went to them hoping they knew what happened to the doctors that arrived days before. Once he saw the person at the bottom of the staircase he knew they were trouble. They had a guns in there hands and bandannas covering their mouths and noses. Lance tried to turn and run but one of them took a shot that hit him in the shoulder. He passed out. He kept coming in and out of consciousness while he was being carried to the shore. The bandits were planning on using Lance as bait to lure friendlies into helping him while they sat on a small hill with their gun waiting to attack. He does not know what happened while he was out but he woke up to silence and nobody in sight.
