Brian grew up in a relatively small part of Scotland, not far from the larger cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. He was born to a Chernarussian immigrant and a nurse at a local hospital. His father, Alexander, emmigrated from Chernarus back in the 90's, just after the collapse of the soviet union, seeking to work in a first world country with the hopes of living a better life. In 1994, he met Amy, Brian's mother, after Alexander broke his leg during a project at a local construction company he worked at. Fast forward 6 years, after a happy marriage and growing to be in the higher end of the middle class, they had Brian. However, Brian faced a fair amount of torment in his mid-late years of primary school and became more closed off to people as a result. By the time he had entered into his first year of high school, he had become very anti-social, not talking to people much at all, even his own parents.
At the age of 14, after several visits to a mental health specialist, he was diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder, and immediately begun Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with a psychologist his mother knew. Things were going well after a few years but in the spring of 2015, Brian's mother died due to a sudden brain haemorrhage. This destroyed him, and reverted a large part progress he had made in therapy over the past several years. It didn't help when his father decided to take him back to Chernarus, uprooting the life he had fought so hard to create for himself recently, as his father cited that the country had improved a lot economically and that there was nothing for them in Scotland now.
So they moved. By the summer of 2015, shortly after his birthday, they had managed to get a house in the port of Svetlojarsk, where his father got a job working at the local docks. However, he had to work long hours, and being barely able to speak the language, he was once again bullied at school for his lack of ability to speak at all, never mind speak Chernarussian. He hit a low point in 2016, before meeting a man called Cade. Cade offered him an opportunity. He promised to help him with his social anxiety, but in exchange, Brian would work for him and help him with his drug and gun smuggling business. Confronted with the only option, and not having the money to see a doctor in Chernarus, he agreed, and Cade started giving him Alprazolam. This helped Brian repress the symptoms, however it often played havoc with his memory, giving him something akin to short term memory loss, but he decided it was worth it. After several years, he had grown proficient at logistics and coordinating Cade's business.
However, the infection broke out and drove Brian into the woods for safety. He wandered from small town to small town, mostly keeping to himself wherever he could, stumbling around near Belozersk until he eventually made his way back to South Zagoria. He was fortunate enough to meet Cade again, who was still alive and kicking, but had left his smuggling days behind them. He quickly became friends with Roman and Amber, a young married couple who knew Cade, as well as their friend Nikolai. However, they were driven into hiding due to the amount of people after them, which allowed Brian to meet Embla. Deciding she reminded him a lot of himself before he took Alprazolam, he decided to help her out and help her reintegrate into society, and teach her some things that will help keep her alive along the way.
