I am Robert Knightstep. Prior to the outbreak I was a special forces soldier in the United States Army, though it now seems like it was a lifetime ago. I had a wife, Ann, before the outbreak who did not live long after, but no other relatives to speak of. Before the outbreak I lived in a small city called Cedar City located in the state of Utah. I was often sent over seas for military operations, but it never seemed to be places that I actually wanted to visit. Probably because I was usually sent directly into the center of a war zone on most operations. After returning from my last op with the U.S Army, I decided that it was time for my wife and I to spend some time travelling. As a first and last of many planned destinations, we chose to visit Chernarus as there were some great tourism options becoming available following the civil war. Unfortunately for us, there was a lot more happening in Chernarus then we had anticipated. While our first two weeks in the country were wonderful and relaxing, that was all about to come to a horrific end. We wanted a rural experience with little access to technology, so we did not have easy access to any local news during our stay in Western Chernarus. We spent many of our days there just exploring the country side and the hiking trails that Chernarus has to offer. However on the July 18th, 2017 as I was returning from a quick run on some local trails near Pavlovo, which was the closest village to our cabin, I noticed a trail of blood going from the front door of the cabin to the shed in the back yard. It was there that I found our landkeeper, Viliami, standing over the bloodied corpse of my wife. At that point in time my head was drowned with a thousand emotions as I was trying to piece together what in the hell was going on, but it wasn't long before I realized that something just wasn't right with Viliami. His eyes were red and surrounded by an unsightly rash. His arms are scratched and appeared to even be missing small chunks as if something had bitten him. After he noticed me coming towards the shed he began to charge at me, while unleashing a shrieking cry unlike anything I have ever heard outside of a video game. I quickly grabbed the shovel leaning against the house, and began beating him with it until he stopped moving. After all of the commotion was over I had little time to mourn my wife. When I looked back up to rush to her aid, there were several more of these.. infected humans devouring her corpse. It was at that point that I had no choice but to run, leaving everything behind.
Since those events I have been focused on keeping myself alive through this outbreak. I move around a lot and scavenge what I can without drawing attention to myself, and I soon hope to find other survivors in Chernarus so that hopefully many of us can work together to try and bring an end to the total savagery that is left of Chernarus.
